Laser dentistry is a budding technology, now projected to be in use by more than six percent of dentists in the USA. There are numerous uses for lasers within general dentistry, and dental lasers typically fall into one of two categories.

Soft Tissue Lasers

The first kind of oral laser is defined as a soft tissue laser. These lasers are used in treatments involving the soft tissue of the oral cavity. One use is to destroy acids and spur the development of healthy gum tissue. Soft tissue lasers can seal nerve endings without the patient even feeling a thing, and they’re a good addition to any dentist’s toolset!

Hard Tissue Lasers

The second kind of dental laser, known as the hard tissue laser, is used primarily for cutting through teeth. As mentioned earlier, dental lasers are extremely accurate cutting apparatuses, so Dr. Param Gill can utilize hard tissue lasers to contour or prep your teeth in preparation for many of the treatments we offer at Monte Vista Dental. Hard tissue lasers are more powerful and efficient than traditional tooth-cutting tools.

We’re thrilled to offer our patients both of these laser dentistry technologies. If you are in need of a visit or would like to pencil in a checkup with our office in Turlock, California, please call 209.669.6500 now and we’ll get you scheduled.
